Summary0000811: Random annoying access violation messages, prompts for exit or ignore (attached err)
DescriptionRandom annoying access violation messages, prompts for exit or ignore (attached few error log dumps in Additional Info - i have many of them)

When I do something (sometimes after click or don't know exactly when) the error message came up. All background operations continue to work, but current foreground task is stopped (like selecting dir, changing selection).
It happens more after completed operation (used keystrokes or launching app or file from DC window).

The most recent error for the latest revision is at the end. I have also attached few other reports for previous builds and for the 0.6.0 test.

PS. Alexxx and team, keep up the good work. Excellent app - looking forward to see first standard release. DC it's better than anything I saw till DC.
Steps To ReproduceRandom issue, as described. Can't reproduce. Maybe heavy usage will trigger this error. This happens on all 3 PCs which I use with similar software configuration.
Used langage - Polish, in DC also Polish.

The latest version 0.5.8 build 5390M is more resistant to this error than previous. It didn't show up again since 5th January yet.

Hi, I'm getting a lot of those Errors in lastest official build (0.5.8 build 5390M) after random amount of time when the mouse cursor goes over the hard disk label/button and tries to display the tooltip. Please check this one. I still can't reproduce the error completly to give you a better clue what is going on. I would try to look at tooltip showing function but unfortunately don't have an experience with Pascal and have no time for this now..
Have to try with other GUI elements if they also generate error trying to show the tooltip..

I and some other people have this issue too:

Reproducibility is indeed random. The only common thing among the failures is that Double Commander should work for a relatively long period of time. I guess it happens only when after swapping to disk, but I'm not completely sure.

I work with newest version. Much better then old ones. But still the same issue as described here.

Double Commander
Version: 0.5.10 beta
Revision: 5514M
Build date: 2014/05/12
Lazarus: 1.0.14.0-43446
FPC: 2.6.2
Platform: x86_64-Win64-win32/win64
OS version: Windows 7 SP1 x86_64

Windows is shown, then bad things happen randomly.

Can I help somehow? Issue happens randombly, so no steps I can outline. Can I turn on tracing and logging to collect logs of actions so you can guess. Or I can make process dump or on gflags for DC and work in this mode until crash and make dump?

I have 16 GB of ram and disabled swap file. Will wait for results.

The same error appears in 0.5.10 (win7 64bit) after a sleep mode or a monitor change (connect, disconnect). DC gets into some unstable state and Access Violation error appears whenever a cursor points to a toolbar with disks or any media file which produces a tooltip. I need to restart DC to get it work again.

This is 100% reproducible. Please let me know if you need logs from the latest development version. This bug i so annoying that I will install the dev build if it helps.

And thanks for your work, DC is a great file manager :-)

I think it fixed now (crash after connect/disconnect monitor). Check with latest build from http://doublecmd.xe0.ru , please.
