Summary0001494: Timout and cancle key like ESC for unavailable paths
DescriptionStarting DC with tabs from previous session with unavailable network path in one tab leads to something like a GUI freeze.
I opened a Windows network path in one tab of last DC session. Now in current session this network path is unavailable (e.g. because the other PC is down).
DC continuously tries to connect to this path, which I / the user cannot cancel. As soon as something like a timeout has stopped DC from trying to connect and a do a wrong move again (e.g. click into that tab's file list again) it somehow freezes again.
I would like to have similar functionality like in TC. There I can press ESC to cancel connection try. TC then changes to a default drive like C:.
But I would be best to have DC not to go into the frozen like state at all. I should cope with unavailable paths.
Steps To Reproduce1) Connect to a available network path and and the DC afterwords.
e.g. by typing something like \\pc-name\share-name in the address line
2) Close DC.
3) Make the previous network path unavailable by e.g. shutting down the remote PC.
4) Open DC again select the tab pointing to the unavailable network share. If it is not in a frozen-like state click into the file list of the tab.
=> In Windows a windows gets a light-gray layout on top to indicate that the main message loop is blocked. This happens here too.

Operation in general is very slow when there is this unavailable network path in a tab.

I tried changing settings in Option dialog. Every time I press apply or ok it takes forever for DC to close the dialog. I think DC does an update and tries to connect to that netpath in the background again.

After I closed that netpath tab (that is not so easy once it is in the frozen-like state) operation is fluid again. Now I can change settings without this long wait time in between.

That bug is really annoying for me because I need many different network paths for work.

Does it happen sometimes when you have not used DC for a while, or all the time?
Does it happen on 32bit?
I have an issue with x64, which makes it unusable for work on macOS where after leaving DC open for a while, DC freezes when I try to use it for 15-30 secs, and then it works without issues, then freezes again after I don't use it for a while. Only solution for me is to use DC 32bit.

Also, your version looks very old, can you reproduce on the latest nightly?
