Really no bug here, DC doing that you requested. You should fully understand what are you doing when choose following all symlinks. In this case a file/folder (symlink target) copied instead symlink. This archive contains symlink to root folder "/", so you choose to copy a whole root directory and got a endless loop.

i thought that following sym links, meant to respect the sym links target in the new copied directory

so if i just want to copy sym links i copy them as regular files?

Also what does the operation option Correct Links stand for?

If you want to copy symlinks as is then you should answer 'no' in the 'follow' symlink request.
If symlink is relative then option "Correct Links" try to make symlink relative to the new location.

I disabled symlink following with root directory target.

Allright thanks for the clarification, and for the addition "disabled symlink following with root directory target", although not necessary it is much appreciated.
