| Summary | 0002465: DC silently produces broken ZIP when packing file of size >4G | ||||
| Description | When DC creates a ZIP file using internal ZIP plugin and the file being packed is larger than > 4G (I tried file of size 4 383 401 125 B), then the ZIP file is broken. Worse, any indication of the problem is not presented to the user during packing process. Only when user tries to unpack that ZIP file (does not matter which app is used to unpacking), the error message is displayed and unpacked data are corrupted. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | To reproduce: Select file with size > 4G; press Alt+F5; select "zip" packer (configuration: method = smDeflated, option = doNormal). | ||||
| Additional Information | This is a data corruption problem. Worse, a silent one. I have made a backup of important data by packing using DC zip and believed that I am safe. When I have deleted all other copies, I found my backup was corrupted. Surprise. I recommend to give high priority to this bug. | ||||

Additional notes for reproduction: On Windows, for generating the file, one can use tool "Disk Tools.exe" that can be downloaded from http://www.soft.tahionic.com/download-file-generator/index.html In this tool, select to generate 1 file of size 4181 MB. |
