Summary | 0002600: Very slow to open large .tar.gz file
Description | Sorry if this was reported already, the searching features of this bug tracker are poor.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Download WebStorm EAP from https://www.jetbrains.com/webstorm/nextversion. It should be a large file, about 400MB 2. Press Enter in DC on that file. 3. Wait a long while There is no progress indication.
Additional Information | Archive Manager opens the file much faster, and shows progress.

Confirmed. Engrampa (default XFCE archive manager) internally uses "tar -t" (which calls "gzip -d"). This is 4 times faster than DC! Also, there is no way to cancel opening archives. The only way to cancel is to kill DC :( But this can easily be fixed by TURNING OFF the option "Open *.tar.xxx archives in one step" in Configuration->Plugins WCX->ZIP->Configure |
