| Summary | 0002611: Can't create self extracting archives | ||||
| Description | I was unable to create self extracting zip or 7z archives with built in archiver (didn't even try with external archivers, though) This is a pretty useful, and for me, als o a heavily used feature of TC - but I'm really keen to change to DC as it progress lighning fast, recently. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | select some files, invoke cm_PackFiles -> select "create self extracting archive" and chose either zip or 7z format (other formats I just didn't tried with), then start compression. Close to the finish, an error message appears. | ||||
| Additional Information | 7z gives somewhat different message like the one attached, it claims that "Cannot find specified SFX file 7z.sfx" If I press then OK, it'll show the similar message like I've attached, too. I tried to solve this latter and it's quite easy, though: I've just put some 7z.sfx found elsewhere on my computer (from TC, actually) to DC executable path, and it worked (only with 7z, not with zip) - however, I still miss the similar option as in TC: the SFX could have been selected under 7z archiver configuration via a dropdown list, showing me the available .sfx files. See my second picture attached, please. | ||||

Oops. Sorry, I had to apologize here: I've just realized that maybe that dropdown list of selectable archive SFX executables was, most probabyl, my own extension to TC's 7zip plugin back in 2010... :) Nevertheless, Alex, do you think it could be, perhaps, added to DC as well? Sadly, I'm a C/C++ developer, and I don't know a thing neither about Free Pascal nor Lazarus, so I'm afraid I can't really help. Only giving this feature request, at most - I hope you don't mind. :S |
