| Summary | 0002617: Internal diff tool feature request |
|---|
| Description | Re-sync capability for internal diff tool would be a nice feature - just like in TC. |
|---|
| Steps To Reproduce | Compare two, somewhat different yet "quite similar" text files. Sometimes the differences can be small, yet can confuse the differ tool, ending up in situation where it shows totally different file from some point on, other than it is actually differing. For this situation to avoid, there's a pretty useful context menu option exists in TC internal differ tool, called "Resync comparison from here". This options helps the differ tool to set one line manually for each file to be compared, where the comparisoun should be re-started from, thus making the comparison more user friendly process for such files. |
|---|
| Additional Information | Comparing logs with async events happening here and there - especially when it also contains timestamps, like kernel logs do - these kind of feature is a real life saver and can be extremely useful if one wants to continue analyzing THE REAL differences of two instances of such logs/traces.
Please find some helpful screenshots and sample files (to compare) in the attached zip file. |
