Summary | 0002628: Drag and drop to app erratic
Description | In previous versions, I could drag a file from Double Commander and drop it on another app, like Photoshop or InDesign. It does not work consistently anymore. What happens is a message appears whether I want to copy the file (to another folder). Sometimes it works, but very often it does not. It works in previous versions, but I like the dark skin of version 1.0.0

Agreed. I don't know when this started, but I see it all the time now when trying to drag files and drop them onto another app window. Nothing happens I have to click back on DC to give it focus and then try again. About 1/3 of the time, DC then gives me an error indicating it can't copy flies onto themselves, so it it seems to be thinking I dragged and dropped onto the same pane. I may go through this entire scenario four or five times before the drop to another app's window finally works. |

As of the latest 1.0 candidate downloaded on 4/27/2021, this seems to be resolved. I had no trouble dragging and dropping all day with version 9772. |
|
I downloaded 1.0 build 9782, still the same problem. BUT! I ran a compatibility check and Windows reported it was incompatible. Allowed Windows to fix it, and it made it compatible with Windows 8. Voila! I can drag and drop 9 times out of 10! |

Version 1.0.0 Alpha 9797 has the same problem. As I did with build 9782, running the compatibility check seems to work. Windows sets it to be compatible with Windows 8.0. Otherwise, if you don't want to set compatibility to Windows 8, what works is to drag a file out by pressing the trackpad left button (not pressing down the mouse/pen) while holding the mouse/pen over the filename/s. don't press down with the mouse, just hover over the filename and press the left trackpad button. |
